Calendly SMS limit: the monthly credit cap and what happens when you hit it
Calendly gives each seat 250 SMS credits a month on non-Enterprise plans, and what a text costs depends on the country. When you reach 100%, Calendly's texts stop and emails go out instead, so this page explains how the cap works and what to do about it.
- NoShowText for {business}: Reminder, your appointment is {when}. Reply C to confirm, R to reschedule, X to cancel. Reply STOP to opt out.
- NoShowText for {business}: Your appointment is tomorrow, {when}. Can't make it? Reply X and we will tell {owner}. Reply STOP to opt out.
How the Calendly cap works
Calendly counts text messages sent by Workflows as credits. Its help page on SMS credit limits gives these numbers:
- Non-Enterprise plans: 250 SMS credits per seat, per month.
- Enterprise plans: 1,000 SMS credits per seat, per month.
- Credits reset on the 1st of each month at 12 a.m. UTC.
Think of it like a prepaid phone card that refills once a month. Whatever is left does not carry over.
What a text costs
Not every message costs the same. The page says messages cost zero, one, three or nine credits based on the country. For Canada and the US, the page says the cost is zero credits per message.
That matters. If all your clients are in the US or Canada, Calendly’s own page says those texts do not use up the 250. The cap bites hardest for people who text clients in other countries, where a single message can cost one, three or nine credits. If you are in the US with US clients, check your actual usage before you assume you are near the limit.
What happens at the limit
Calendly warns you before it happens. At 90% usage, the org owner gets an email warning. At 100%, the page says “Texts stop. Calendly sends emails instead.”
So nothing breaks loudly. Clients who expected a text get an email. If your clients rely on texts because they do not check email, that is the same as no reminder at all.
Getting more
The page does not describe buying extra credits. It says you can add seats to your account to increase your credits, or upgrade to Enterprise for a larger, customizable limit. For a solo tutor, groomer or therapist, a second seat is a lot to pay for more of a text that still cannot hear a reply.
The reply problem is separate
Even under the cap, Calendly’s help page on text messages says replies from invitees are not delivered or monitored. Raising the limit does not fix that.
What NoShowText does differently
NoShowText reads your Calendly bookings and sends the reminders itself, from its own number, 24 hours and 2 hours before. It does not count messages against a monthly allowance. Replies come to your phone, so a “running late” or a cancel is something you actually see.
Who this matters for
Add up your own numbers before you change anything. Look at how many of your clients are outside the US and Canada, and how many reminders you send a month. If most of your clients are local, the cap may never touch you, and the real reason to look at a different tool is the missing replies, not the count. If you text clients abroad, or run several seats, the cap is worth planning around. Calendly’s page also says an org owner can add seats for more credits, so the cost of staying inside the cap grows with your team.
